The Trooper Bartram Memorial Foundation was established to honor the memory of Indiana State Trooper James (Pat) Bartram who was killed in the line of duty in 1998.  The mission of the foundation is to support families in need with the Trooper Bartram Christmas for Kids.  This event brings Law Enforcement Officers and other First Responders from State, County, and local agencies together to honor the relationship between them and the communities they serve.  The memory and spirit of service of Trooper Bartram and other Police Officers killed in the line of duty live on through our caring for those in need during the holidays.

On Saturday, May 15, 2021, The Trooper Bartram Memorial Foundation gained a Guardian Angel and lost another hero.  Kim Bartram VanJelgerhuis, sister of Indiana State Trooper James (Pat) Bartram who was killed in the line of duty in 1998, died quietly in her home surrounded those she loved.

Kim was the life force behind the Trooper Bartram Memorial Foundation from its beginning. She honored the life of her brother by creating this organization with the support of family and friends to make sure that kindness lived on in the lives of children who might not have a Christmas. The organization has continued to honor the lives of fallen officers each year by bringing the law enforcement community and our neighbors in need together to celebrate the goodness of coming together for a common cause – keeping love alive.

Through fund-raising efforts, grants and donations from others The Trooper Bartram Memorial Foundation has taken over 2,500 children and their families Christmas shopping since the project began. Kim was very passionate about helping children in need and keeping the memory of her brother Pat alive. The Christmas For Kids project allowed her to do both.

The Board of Directors for The Trooper Bartram Memorial Foundation extends our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Kim. Her spirit and commitment to service to our community will live on in the work that will continue in her honor and the honor of all Officers killed in the line of duty.

Our sweet friend will be missed.

The Trooper Bartram Memorial Foundation is a not-for-profit 501 (c) 3 organization that has been established to assist people in need and fund the annual Trooper Bartram Christmas for Kids event. Needy individuals and families in our community go without proper food, shelter, and essential care every day due to a variety of factors. Money raised during our annual fundraiser goes toward our Trooper Bartram Christmas for Kids, Trooper Teddy Bears, and the Traumatic Loss/In Need Assistance program.  While all of us are susceptible to hard times; children are at the most risk. They make up the largest number of clients we serve.  With the generous support of folks like you, we will be able to help many of these families and individuals, not only to meet essential daily needs but assist them in working toward a brighter future with our programs.
